Curriculum

AMN follows the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) Curriculum. The EYFS Curriculum supports an integrated approach to early years learning and care. It provides a common set of principles and guidelines, in order for practitioners every where to deliver quality education and experiences for all children.
Studies have shown that, children are more likely to absorb new concepts and challenges when presented a enjoyable manner.
Maintaining good relationships is also advices by the EYFS Framework as it allows us to work corroboratively with parents/ guardians to provide an effective method of learning for the kids.
The EYFS Curriculum consists of three Prime Areas (Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development) and four Specific Areas (Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design) which all direct towards the holistic development of your child.

Upon enrollment of your child at AMN, a Learning Journey will be issued for the child.  Over time, this will build up a picture of your child’s journey through the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

Your child’s key person will add different documents to the Learning Journey which provide a record of your child’s learning and development during your time with us.

At a glance you will see your child’s stage of development and the activities they will be involved in next at the nursery. The Learning Journey will include direct observations, artwork, photographs, and home observations, which are used to provide your child’s key person with the relevant information required to impact your child’s learning and development. All the provided information is used to effectively plan activities that will engage and stimulate your child, based on their learning level and individual interest, to aid in their progress.

As children develop speaking and listening skills, they are learning to build foundations for their literacy and vocabulary progression. Listening and attention support the language learning of our kids, helps them to discriminate sounds and monitor attention in shared contexts.
Gradually children develop the ability towards understanding words in contexts and begin implementing in their daily speech. At AMN, we believe the practitioners are the best resource available to develop the language skills of the children.
Each practitioner at AMN is qualified and trained to effectively aid the children in the progress of their communication and language. If there are any concerns that practitioners notice in the development of communication and language skills, they will work in partnership with parents/ guardians to decide what is the next step that needs to be taken in order to provide the child with the best support to help the succeed.

The importance of physical development can be seen by gravity placed on the movement of a child while the fetus is still inside the womb of a mother. Physical development involves the development over the control of their body, particularly the muscles and physical coordination, this is done by concentration of the progress of fine and gross motor skills.
Children are taught to gain control and co-ordination over their body, move confidently in a range of ways and safely negotiate space.
Developing their fine- motor skills also helps the child to hold their crayons/ pencils/ paint brushes etc. in the correct dynamic tripod method.
Health and self- care helps children find out about the effectiveness of a healthy lifestyle by incorporating exercise and physical movement in to their daily routine. It also includes managing their personal needs, such as, dressing up and taking care of their body.
At AMN we like to stick to scheduled physical routines. Taking a more integrated approach, from the very beginning, we have implemented yoga and its benefits in our daily routine. 

PSED supports the cognitive development of a child. It teaches them the fundamentals of building relationships with their peers and adults, how to take into consideration other people’s feelings, to look at situations from different perspectives in the midst of an argument/ misunderstanding.
PSED aids in the development of the children’s confidence and self- esteem. It will help children to feel valued in their surroundings.
We aim to help children develop social skills that will bring them forth in to the world so as to build relationships and form connections with the individuals of their surroundings.
Children will learn to evaluate a situation and understand the appropriate behavior/ attitude in a circumstance. These skills will help children to feel more confident in themselves and will be proud to grow as an individual of this world.

This specific area aids in the development of children’s engagement with letters and sounds.
This will help them to form links between the letters and their respective phonic sounds in order for children to begin writing and reading words/ sentences as they develop.
Children are offered a variety of resources, from books, to rhymes, written materials, visual aids and more.
As they advance, they should be able to understand some of the more commonly used word during conversations and be able to phonetically sound out their spellings.

Mathematics can be regarded as an umbrella term as it covers a wide range of topics from numbers, shape, space and measures.
Based on the EYFS Framework, children are taught to count from numbers 0- 20 in order and in relation with objects.
Children are taught to develop the mindset and skills to be able to solve problems, compare quantities using measurements such as size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money.
Kids will also dip their toes in the studies of pattern, to understand the basic concept that is behind the formation of patterns.

In this generation, it is vital that we introduce children to the multi- cultural world we live in right now.
Informing them on the various cultures and traditions followed and practiced all around the world helps kids to form appositive attitude/ opinion about the acceptance of one and all.
Kids will be taught to recognize and accept the similarities and differences amongst the people around them and their surroundings.
Teaching children about the beautiful way of life that we manifest, will help the children grow up to be the best version of themselves and make this world a better place.
Having an understanding of their country and their environment helps to better grasp how they need to move themselves around in this world.

Encouraging the constant use of children’s imagination and expression aids our little ones in tapping the creative nerves of their cognitive map.
This specific area helps children to present and express their thoughts and opinions.
Children are introduced to a variety of tools, techniques, colors, designs and textures.
Supporting the efforts of the children in regards to Expressive Arts and Designs helps to boost their confidence in accepting new challenges posed by the creative field.
